This is an introduction to the “Happy Jacket Type 2”, an updated version of the brand’s classic model “Happy Jacket”.
In addition to a design and size that are closer to the original ECWCS LEVEL7 HAPPY SUITS, this model has a regulated amount of padding. It uses a matte nylon fabric with a natural wrinkled texture and subdued sheen, giving it a calm, mature impression.
The padding uses CLIMASHIELD, which is also used in the U.S. military’s extreme cold weather clothing, to provide high levels of warmth. The clean silhouette with minimal excess bulk makes this a piece that is easy to match with a variety of different styles.

Founded in 1981 by American mountaineers John Bouchard and Marie Meunier, Wildthings is an outdoor brand rooted in the concept that gear should be “light and tough.” Known for its high-quality, functional outerwear and durable luggage, Wildthings’ cold-weather apparel is trusted by both the U.S. Army and Navy.
About the “Happy Suit”
The “Happy Suit” is an insulated jacket based on the U.S. military’s ECWCS Level 7 cold-weather layering system. The name “Happy Suit” originated from a smiley face stamped on the tag of the early models.
Matte, Durable Fabric
Made from 70-denier, water-resistant nylon that strikes a balance between softness and durability. Its thickness highlights the insulation, while its matte finish adds a relaxed, refined appearance.
High-Performance Synthetic Insulation
Using synthetic “CLIMASHIELD” insulation, this jacket provides lightweight warmth that retains heat even when wet, unlike down. The insulation is also washable for easy care.
The high stand collar offers wind protection and conceals a hood for sudden rain.
The double-zip front offers versatility and convenience.
Shoulder Velcro patches, left logo-free, create a clean, refined look.
Fleece-lined hand-warmer pockets and interior mesh pockets provide ample storage, making a bag optional.
Velcro-adjustable cuffs on the sleeves for a secure fit.
A drawcord at the hem adjusts the fit and blocks wind. Note: the adjusters are located inside the side pockets.
